The Ghanaian movie ‘AZALI’ has won two awards at the just ended Africa International Film Festival held in in Lagos, Nigeria.
It was adjudged the overall Best Feature Film, as well as the Best Screenplay movie at the awards.
Also, lead actress Asana Alhassan who starred as AZALI in the movie, won in the Best Actress category.
The epic movie has been one of the most talked about in Ghana since it was first premiered at the beginning of October.
‘AZALI’ is plotted on a 14-year-old girl from Northern Ghana who has to endure life in the slums of Accra in a bid to find her way back home.
The movie features the likes of Adjetey Annan, Akofa Edjeani, Ama K. Abebrese, Asana Alhassan, as well as a host of other upcoming actors and actresses.
Produced by the talented Kwabena Gyansah, ‘AZALI’ was first premiered in Tamale before again being premiered in Accra three weeks ago.
The film was also part of 140 movies that were screened during the 2018 African International Film Festival (AFRIFF).
A post from the official page of the movie read: “At the just ended Africa International Film Festival in Lagos,Nigeria, AZALI won the overall BEST FEATURE FILM,BEST SCREENPLAY and BEST ACTRESS for Asana Alhassan. Congrats to the entire cast and crew for making this possible.”
The latest recognition from the Africa International Film Festival in Lagos means ‘AZALI’ has won two awards despite the movie being less than three months old.
